Makars’ Court to Scott Monument: Edinburgh Storytelling Walk
This tour gives you a wider‑ranging Edinburgh walk - perfect if you want to see how the story of the city shifts as you move from the Old Town into the New Town.
Encompassing everything from our Greyfriars and St Giles’ tours, we (sometimes including one of our Golden Retriever tour guides) continue along the Royal Mile from St Giles’ Cathedral to Tron Kirk, sharing hidden histories both along - and beneath - the street. From there, we make our way down Cockburn Street, one of Edinburgh’s most iconic lanes, before bridging across from the Old Town into the New Town over the site of the former Nor Loch.
Beyond the brick and mortar, we’ll bring the city to life through the people who shaped it - thinkers, workers, rebels, and characters whose stories still cling to the closes and courtyards. By the time we finish near the Scott Monument, you’ll have walked through centuries of Edinburgh history in one go, and you’ll see the city’s centre with fresh eyes.
Go on and book now - we’d love to show you around.
Please note that our walking tours do not go inside paid attractions (e.g. Writers’ Museum, Edinburgh Castle, St Giles’ Cathedral, or the Scott Monument).
Please check-in a few minutes prior to the start of the tour at the meeting location: Makars' Court, Edinburgh (next to the Writers' Museum).
Good to know:
• Children 5 and under are free with an adult (no need to book).
• Well‑behaved dogs are welcome, as long as they’re comfortable around other dogs, since one of our Golden Retriever tour guides often joins the tour.
